Our Journey

The Evolution of Fabricon

Fabricon was founded in 1978 by Mr. Sanjit Kr. Ghosh with a vision to manufacture mild steel switchgear panel enclosures, which was a bold venture for its time. Fabricon’s journey began with a 1000 sq feet factory situated in Motilal Gupta Road with a strength of just 10 employees and yet served as a foundation for what would soon become a pillar of success. Mr Sanjit Kr. Ghosh actively engaged in hands-on production himself, his personal touch playing a vital role in giving the company a robust foundation. His dedication and honest work enabled him to cater to well-known clientele of his time such as Andrew Yule, Biecco Lawrie, and Alstom. By 2005, the 1,000 sq. ft. factory steadily expanded into a 5,000 sq. ft. factory; however, it remained reliant on manual labour.

Even as the company stood at the crossroads of tradition and transformation, a new force was quietly emerging—one that would propel Fabricon into a new era of innovation and automation. Sanjit Ghosh’s passion, dedication and ambition was passed onto his son, Sudipto Ghosh, who would soon emerge as the new leader of Fabricon, steering its destiny to greater heights. In the early days, a young Sudipto Ghosh would often accompany his father to work, absorbing the intricacies of metal craftsmanship. What began as a childhood curiosity was soon transformed into a fiery passion- shaping the visionary leader that would pave the way for Fabricon’s glory. Juggling academics and hands-on experiences, Sudipto’s ambition and constant drive for evolution propelled Fabricon’s growth, transforming what was once a manual labour-driven unit till 2005 to one powered by advanced CNC machinery and other cutting-edge technologies. By the ripe age of 22, Sudipto officially joined Fabricon in 2003 and redefined visions, efficiency, and innovation, opening multiple doors for Fabricon’s future endeavours. Sudipto’s relentless pursuit of success was recognized as Fabricon won the Best Manufacturing Practices award in the Bengal Chamber of Commerce for two consecutive years in 2007 and 2008.

Fabricon’s booming growth gave birth to a new venture in 2009 as they collaborated with Escorts limited to launch Escorts Fabricon Diesel generator sets. The relentless efforts in establishing Fabricon as a brand continued as the company swiftly navigated through its peaks and lows. With Fabricon’s ever-expanding and burgeoning operations, the company established its second unit in Bakrahat Kolkata, spanning 28000 sq feet to accommodate its growing ambitions and modern machinery. This expansion in 2012 heralded the integration of growing automation using Amada machines. Propelled by new equipment in its inventory, Fabricon set out to explore the world of retail fixtures.

The following years were a turbulent yet transformative period for Fabricon—a whirlwind of efforts to establish its brand in diesel generators while actively pursuing new clients in retail fixtures. With an efficient team and Sudipto’s unwavering dedication, Fabricon experienced exponential growth, evolving into a well-oiled machine.

Amid this rapid expansion, in 2015, Mrs. Priyanka Ghosh stepped in, marking a new chapter in the company’s journey. Majoring in Biotech, Priyanka initially found herself navigating uncharted terrain in the mechanical industry. However, she rode the ebbs and flows of this unfamiliar domain and eventually seamlessly blended into the business. Her unwavering acumen, PR skills, and support became a catalyst in Fabricon’s expansion, transforming Fabricon’s road to success into a smoother one. Her contribution greatly boosted Fabricon’s diversification into new industries. This period broadened Fabricon’s horizons in the retail fixtures segment, ushering in esteemed clients such as Samsung, Gionee, and LG. This booming accomplishment enabled Fabricon to confidently transition from switchgear panel enclosures to retail fixtures completely. Navigating the demands of a growing business, she also embraced the responsibilities of motherhood. Priyanka’s story serves as an emblem of inspiration to the indomitable spirits of working women who strive to bring professional ambition and familial devotion to an equilibrium.

The next few years witnessed exponential growth in Fabricon’s success in the retail fixtures segment, adding Titan, Nokia, Vivo, Nestle, Phillips, Xiaomi, Oppo, Birla Oppus and many more to its valuable clientele list. Fabricon already displayed excellence in metal fixtures with its state of the art manufacturing facilities, but the expanding clientele brought forth the demand for expanding infrastructure. Thus to cater to the growing demands, Fabricon introduced a one roof solution- establishing its very own in-house powder coating, acrylic component manufacturing, printing and wooden component manufacturing. However, the struggle to establish its brand and increase the sales in the Diesel Generators segment remained, as Fabricon was competing with already established brands.

The year 2022 witnessed a substantial growth in the genset business as Fabricon joined hands with Mr Pritam Pattanayak, a long term friend and well wisher of the Fabricon family. A stalwart in diesel generator sales and service,Mr Pritam’s experience of two decades in the field elevated the genset division to unprecedented heights. His commendable knowledge and diligence have played a vital role in boosting the operations of this genset business vertical. His arrival opened Fabricon’s doors to not only multiple corners of West Bengal but also North East India. This led to Fabricon establishing its branch office in guwahati and expanding its sales teams in North Bengal and Odisha. Mr. Pattanayak’s arrival further expanded our diesel generator range which was previously 10 to 62.5 kVA with Escorts Kubota Limited to 250 kVA through a collaboration with Cooper corporation.

Eventually retail fixtures and the GenSet businesses reached a comfortable and stable stage with the efforts of the dedicated and hardworking team of Fabricon, but Fabricon’s thirst for growth was not yet quenched. Fabricon embarked on yet another venture, further expanding its horizons with its third unit in 2022 at Jamira, whose area spanned a total of 1 lakh sq feet. The unit is equipped with state of the art wood-working machines, world class paint facilities and a dedicated GenSet assembly line factory.

Fabricon which started with 10 members in 1978 has now grown into a family of more than 150 members and stands as a formidable enterprise, catering to over 1000 stores per year for its retail segment and has achieved a sales of over 400 gensets per year.

With an unwavering vision towards success,in 2025, Fabricon has stepped into the world of manufacturing modular kitchens and wardrobes, innovating a seamless collaboration of the durability of metal and the timeless elegance of wood. This exquisite blend of metal and wood has been exhibited to be witnessed and enamoured for the public gaze at Fabricon’s very own experience centre at Thakurpukur, Kolkata.

This stands as a testament to Fabricon’s strive for excellence and its ever-evolving legacy of craftsmanship and ingenuity as it pioneers its way into the new ventures.

There are still many sectors to explore, and Fabricon is on its way to take up those challenges and conquer new domains in different industries.
